For a start, even if he had the inclination to do something about their conduct (which I doubt), he wouldn't be able to, since the Mayor of London does not have any control over the police.

Monty:

I suspect you might have posted your comment on the wrong thread - the post about the EU referendum is below this one.

Your idea of having a private referendum is quite good, and has been suggested before (by the Tory peer, Lord Young, for example). Indeed, a couple of villages in some parts of the country have held local referenda. If the money and organisation could be put in place it might be worth trying, although I suspect that the government would just ignore the result anyway.

GW:

Thanks for the link!Fulham Reactionaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15966316580829187182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6153021073295963928.post-74874403901771093572008-05-07T23:08:00.000+01:002008-05-07T23:08:00.000+01:00Had Red Ken been reelected, I think it would have ...Had Red Ken been reelected, I think it would have been the nail in the UK's coffin. Instead, Labour gets shredded and Gordon is in the cross hairs. Can't count you Brits out. Do love the whining by the way, its what the left does best when they don't get their way. Great post. What resources would it take to put together a voluntary referendum? It wouldn't be legally binding, but it would have a salutory effect on those MPs who have voted to silence the public. We could appeal for volunteer vote counters and invigilators for every ward. And people to deliver a voting slip to everyone on the electoral register. One simple question- Should the UK accept the Lisbon Treaty, yes or no.

I think if this idea ever got off the ground, the government would try to stop us doing it. And that, in itself, is a good reason for doing it.

MontyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6153021073295963928.post-46016987376430472262008-05-07T12:11:00.000+01:002008-05-07T12:11:00.000+01:00"This is the worst night London has seen since the..."This is the worst night London has seen since the Blitz"

I suspect that, had he been born then, Mr Morrison from Streatham would have been one of the lefties cheering on Germany until the morning of 22 June 1941.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6153021073295963928.post-40757145227113524422008-05-07T05:34:00.000+01:002008-05-07T05:34:00.000+01:00"...the author of the evidently rather unsuccessfu..."...the author of the evidently rather unsuccessful "Stop Boris"..."

I hope, for his sake, he had the forethought to reserve the name 'stopborisnexttime'... :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6153021073295963928.post-13676121643584745892008-05-07T01:22:00.000+01:002008-05-07T01:22:00.000+01:00.With Boris, the 'Asian Yooths' will not be allowe....
With Boris, the 'Asian Yooths' will not be allowed to get away with acts of racial and religious hatred as much anymore.

I'd say this is worth a 2nd case of champagne, but probably not a third.
