We'd have sailed HMS dreadnought next to Irans dusty shores and flattened a few villages.

Life was simple back then. Nikola on my blog made the point that if we were Iran we would probably do the same, which is true (wouldn't you like to get hold of the foreign fishermen raping our fishing waters until their governments paid us for the privilege?)

Bottom line is, we do not have an expeditionary force that could take on iran, and we shouldn't kid ourselves otherwise. Being bellicose is for the strong, as is freedom. If any time was for action, it was when the sailors were taken in the first place. I have no idea what the situation on the ground was but i **assume** HMS Cornwall had standing orders not to fire unless fired upon, which is not the call that should have been made.

For all the nice words about 'peacekeeping', the military is there to control. If we were unable to control the events in the waters - whosever they were - we should have no business being there, and if we could control it, the Iranian ship(s) should be on the ocean floor in two for daring to try.ba bahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14178542110930629126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6153021073295963928.post-81759493985234229232007-03-25T17:17:00.000+01:002007-03-25T17:17:00.000+01:00I think it might actually be time to invade them.I think it might actually be time to invade them.youdontknowmehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17671696083535500783noreply@blogger.com
