Racist Britain

As any fule (or, which is much the same thing, any good liberal) kno, racism is inherent in British society. Non-whites, we are given to believe, are at constant risk from the massed ranks of barbaric natives, who are just itching to tear them limb-from-limb in an orgy of genocidal bloodlust. Muslims, goes the traditional media narrative, are particularly at risk, and "Islamophobia" is now reaching record levels. Even such fair and impartial representations of Muslims and natives as "White Girl" can do nothing to stem the tide of hatred and bigotry. Knowing all this, it will come as no surprise to anyone to hear of two more horrendous racist attacks.

First up, a race hate incident:

A TERRIFIED pensioner and her grandson had a lucky escape when a gang of yobs threw a brick and a wrench through their window.

Around 15 youths shouted rascist abuse and attacked 74-year-old Jean Mills’ home in Victoria Walk, Chadderton, after threatening to burn it down.

The ordeal happened when her 13-year-old grandson, who she does not want to name, was sitting on the garden wall with a friend at around 8.45pm on Sunday.

They were called “white b*******”. The gang chased them into the house and threatened to torch it.

Half of the thugs stayed at the front of the house and threw a brick and a wrench through a window.

The others went to the back of the house where they kicked in the back door, smashing another window.

Around £400 of damage was caused and Mrs Mills said: “I was very shaken and my grandson was frightened because apparently two of them go to the same school as him.”

Her grandson, who lives with her, has been chased several times by the gang which the family says has been causing havoc in the area.

On Friday Mrs Mills asked them to stop destroying plants in her garden. A neighbour had a fence kicked down and a car was scratched

Her daughter, Janet Mills, said: “The wrench could have hit my mother or my nephew.

“It seems there’s a gang going round causing havoc. People are being confronted by these youths. The fact is if you are white you are going to be in trouble. That’s not good for Chadderton.”

A police spokesman said the gang was made up of white and Asian youths, and that no allegation of racism had been made.

Hmm, even if the gang was made of "white and Asian [sic] youths", that does not prevent it being a racist incident. At least, it didn't when the Stephen Lawrence memorial was vandalised by a black man...

Second, religious hatred. "Islamophobia", no doubt?

PARISHIONERS were in shock this week after thugs attacked a leading East End clergyman in the grounds of his church.

Two youths described by police as Asian attacked Canon Michael Ainsworth at St George-in-the-East Church in Shadwell, Scotland Yard confirmed this evening (Friday).

Police are treating the attack on the 57-year-old clergyman as an alleged 'faith hate' crime.

So, not Islamophobia then (except in the sense that attacks by Muslim terrorists are now designated as "anti-Islamic actions" - in that sense, this was clearly an instance of extreme Islamophobia). Rather, a Christianophobic attack, carried out by "Asians" - a favourite euphemism for 'Muslims'.

Of course, these cases don't fit the liberal paradigm of whites/Christians as oppressors and bigots, and Pakistanis/Muslims as poor oppressed victims. But then, as I have said time and time again, the majority of racist crimes don't fit that model - for a start, most race crime is directed against whites. The cases highlighted above provide further evidence that the hackneyed image of white racists going out "Paki-bashing" is a complete inversion of reality, and that it is, in fact, the "Asians" themselves who have a disproportionate propensity to indulge in racist and sectarian violence.

Piss off and Dizaei

As Lee Jasper vanishes, at least temporarily, from public view, an equally obnoxious race hustler may be in for a bit of luck. The Telegraph reports that Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent, and president of the National Black Police Association, Ali Dizaei, is one of several candidates for promotion to the rank of Commander.
The report also notes that Dizaei "once accused his colleagues of racism". In fact he has done so on at least four separate occasions, and, perhaps in an effort to broaden his repertoire, has also recently accused the Solicitors Regulation Authority of being "institutionally racist". He doesn't exactly have a track record of scrupulous honesty in his accusations, either: last year, he admitted to having libelled both his ex-boss, and another officer, and was obliged to pay "substantial" damages to both men.
His latest allegations against his colleagues were made almost exactly a year ago, when an earlier application for promotion to Commander was rejected. Apparently, Sir Ian Blair fears that Dizaei will cry "racism", should he once again fail to get promoted. Now, what on Earth could have given him that idea?

Even among race hustlers, Dizaei is a particularly unpleasant and dangerous specimen. Unlike the likes of Lee Jasper, he does not remain in the dank recesses of the "race relations" swamp, but slithers into the general public realm to spread his slime. As a senior police officer (his stated ambition is to rise to the rank of chief constable, and if he cries "racism" enough, he just might get there), his decisions and actions can have a direct impact upon the lives of ordinary people, in a way that Jasper's generally cannot. But, Dizaei, just as much as other race hustlers, appears to be motivated by a deep-seated grudge, bordering on hatred, against all white people; like all other race hustlers, he seems to see racist conspiracies everywhere, or at least, everywhere where white people are found. The fact that he has twice admitted to libel suggests that he is rather dishonest, as well. As I have written before, such a man is unfit to wear police uniform at all, let alone the uniform of a senior officer. It is to be hoped that the Met will reject his application for promotion, even if it does mean that he cries "racism" once again. After all, he does it so often, that I doubt anyone really bats an eyelid anymore...

Our friends the police

A policeman who helped in a fatal attack on a pensioner's home can be unmasked today.

Stephen Smith, 49, used the police national computer to find Bernard Gilbert's address on behalf of an assailant hell-bent on revenge after a row over a parking space.

The officer's involvement in the tragedy can be revealed after two brothers were found guilty of manslaughter by a jury yesterday at the end of a two-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

PC Smith, a police officer for 24 years, resigned from the Derbyshire force before he could be sacked.

A police source said Smith had kept his pension, but it was frozen at the point he resigned.

Yeah, that'll teach him!

The court heard that 79-year-old Mr Gilbert, of Spondon, near Derby, argued with Zoe Forbes, 26, after she "nipped into" the parking space he was intending to use at their local Asda in January last year.

She wrote down his car number and passed it to her husband Mark, who gave it to a friend, Dale Phillips, who knew Smith.

The court heard that the following day, 40-year-old Forbes texted his wife, assuring her: "I've got someone on to it.

"Fingers crossed, I'll get an address. Then we'll smash his car to bits - and then his hire car and then whatever he gets after that until he dies."

Smith traced the pensioner's address and it was passed back to Forbes, who sent another text reading: "Bingo! Number 17, your time is up!"

Days later, armed with the information supplied by Smith, Forbes and his brother Steven drove to the pensioner's bungalow and Steven, 22, hurled a half-brick through the window while Mr Gilbert was watching television.

The former Rolls Royce aero worker collapsed in front of his wife Betty.

By the time a paramedic arrived, he was already dead. He was later found to have been suffering from angina.

Smith, of Oakerthorpe, Derbyshire, admitted disclosing personal data contrary to the Data Protection Act 1988 at Derby Magistrates' Court in March last year and was fined £1,200.

Smith was living with a girlfriend and their children but the couple recently split up and he now stays with his mother, Joan.

He refused to comment yesterday but his mother said he had been under stress at work at the time of the incident.

She said: "It has affected him immensely. Steve had been suffering from stress and depression - and still is - and I have been left to pick up the pieces.

"He has found a new job, but he is still suffering because of all this. Why won't people leave him alone?"

I know how she feels. You commit one tiny little violation of your duty to the public, one person - only one - gets killed because of it, and suddenly, you're the bad guy.

Cases like this provide one of the reasons why we should all be extremely wary about the ever-increasing number of databases held by various agencies of the state. Because it only takes one bad apple for the records to end up in the wrong hands. Or indeed, one government cock-up of the kind we've seen rather a lot of recently.

The comments at the Police Oracle forum, and those left by policemen in the comments section of this post (the one which started the whole thing off) are especially interesting, in illustrating the contempt with which many police officers view the general public (something which I, for one, am more than willing to reciprocate), as well as their self-righteous detachment from reality. They're rather reminiscent of our social worker friends in that respect...

There's a first time for everything. The only constant: angry Muslims

Astonishingly, the government (and, indeed, the normally particularly inept Home Office) has done something with which I agree:

The controversial Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi has been refused a visa to visit Britain.

The Home Office said the UK would not tolerate the presence of those who seek to justify acts of terrorist violence.

During his last visit in 2004, Dr Al-Qaradawi defended suicide attacks on Israelis as "martyrdom in the name of God", during a BBC interview.

Dr Al-Qaradawi applied for the visa eight months ago, so that he could receive medical treatment in Britain.

Reacting to the decision, the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) called it deplorable, and said the government had caved in to unreasonable demands spearheaded by the leader of the Conservative Party, David Cameron.

Inayat Bunglawala of the MCB said the decision had "worrying implications for freedom of speech".

"Whatever one may think of some of Qaradawi's views, the way forward is surely to allow them to be aired and then, if appropriate, to challenge them openly."

You know, calls for free speech always sound so much more convincing when made by people who don't have a track record of trying to suppress the free speech of others. As I have previously noted, Bunglawala was an enthusiastic supporter of the restrictions imposed on free speech by the Religious Hatred Act, and was among those calling for the laws against "inciting racial hatred" to be expanded in scope after Nick Griffin's acquittal. Why is it that Bunglawala thinks that Qaradawi's opinions should be challenged and debated, but that Griffin's should be silenced?
Furthermore, it is almost universally accepted that the right to free speech does not extend to the right to incite others to criminality, which is what Qaradawi certainly came very close to doing, when he sought to justify acts of mass murder.

In any event, this is not really a free speech issue. Qaradawi is not having any of his human rights violated: there is no right to be granted a visa to enter the UK, and the question of a right to exercise free speech here only arises once someone has arrived here. Accordingly, it is perfectly reasonable for the government to make this decision based solely on the question of whether or not his presence would be beneficial.

Last week Mr Cameron called Dr Al-Qaradawi "dangerous and divisive", and called on the government not to allow him an entry visa.

Well said Cameron. Not something I say a lot, but when set against the likes of Inayat Bunglawala, even Call Me Dave comes up smelling of roses.

"This decision will send the wrong message to Muslims everywhere about the state of British society and culture", said Muhammad Abdul Bari, secretary-general of the Muslim Council.

He said Dr Al-Qaradawi was respected as a scholar throughout the Islamic world.

Well, that tells you rather a lot about the Muslim world, doesn't it? As I wrote in my last post, there are very few shared values between them and us.

He's right about it sending the wrong message about "the state of British society and culture", though. This is, after all, an unusually tough response on the part of the government to Islamic extremists, and as such sends a rather misleading message. The more usual response to such people is to stick them on a government taskforce.

Mohammed Shafiq, from Muslim youth organisation the Ramadhan Foundation, criticised the decision.

He said: "We've had figures like Nick Griffin and the BNP operating freely and promoting violence towards ethnic minorities, and nothing is done.

"This smacks of double standards, and will isolate Muslim communities further."

So far as I am aware, there is no evidence that Nick Griffin, or the BNP as a party, has ever promoted violence towards anyone, and certainly not towards non-whites in general. Nor is it accurate to say that "nothing is done". As Shafiq might recall, Nick Griffin, and his associate Mark Collett, were twice brought to trial on charges of "inciting racial hatred" (a crime which is itself a restriction on free speech). The police and CPS have hardly shown themselves to be averse to prosecuting Mr Griffin: on the contrary, they seem all too keen to do it.

Indeed, the only cases that I can think of in which people have openly incited violence and got away with it have involved Muslims. I am thinking in particular of the police response to last year's television programme, Undercover Mosque. As readers will no doubt recall, that programme featured Islamic clerics inciting a variety of crimes, including murder. And yet the response of the police was to investigate the possibility of having the film-makers charged with "inciting racial hatred", before making a complaint about the programme to the media regulator, Ofcom (a complaint which was subsequently rejected). So, while there may well be double standards, it doesn't look like they are operating against Muslims.

It should also be noted, once again, that Qaradawi has no right to enter the UK, and, as such, cannot have a right to exercise free speech here. Nick Griffin, by contrast, is a British citizen, and does, therefore, have the right to live here, and to exercise free speech here. As, indeed, do the likes of Bunglawala, Bari, and Shafiq. Considering the above, I have to say that Shafiq's remarks, based as they are on a possibly libellous accusation, a misleading comparison, and a falsehood so severe that it completely inverts the truth, serve only to demonstrate the utter weakness of Muslim claims that they are being oppressed and discriminated against.

Anyway, Qaradawi isn't coming, and, as an added bonus, we may also be getting shot of Abu Hamza pretty soon. Now, if only we could find someone willing to take Rowan Williams...

Scumwatch Special: Scum on the Run

With convicted murderer Daniel Driscoll still on the loose after absconding from Sudbury open prison a month ago, you'd think that the prison service would be keen to, you know, prevent any more killers from escaping into society. Yes, you might very well think that, but you would be wrong:

A police manhunt has been launched after the convicted murderer of a disabled man escaped from a hospital.

Lee Nevins, 24, gave prison guards the slip while being treated at Sunderland Royal Hospital on Tuesday.

He is serving a minimum 17-year term at a top-security Frankland Prison, in Durham for killing Lee Jobling, 20.

I think that the correct word there was 'was'. He was serving a minimum 17-year term at Frankland Prison. He is no longer serving it, because he has escaped.

Supt Gordon Milward said Nevins was taken to hospital with a hand injury and escaped after asking to go to the toilet.

He added: "I am still looking at, as part of the inquiry, the exact security measures that were in place by the Prison Service.

"My understanding is that he had a pair of handcuffs on, keeping his wrists secured and he was also secured to a guard."

Unless he's taken the guard with him, he clearly isn't secured to him anymore. Obviously I'm not an ace detective like the superintendent, but I might hazard a guess that Nevins becoming detached from the guard is not unconnected with his ultimate disappearance. Well done, that guard!

Mind you, the police aren't all that much better themselves:

A paedophile named on a list of the UK's "most wanted" was arrested but later released after police failed to recognise him.

An inquiry is under way after South Yorkshire Police officers only realised who Joshua Karney was after he was fined for being drunk and released.

Karney, 30, is one of five of the UK's most wanted sex offenders after going missing from Lancashire in 2005.

The hunt for Karney has appeared on BBC One's Crimewatch and he is on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection "most wanted" list.

When he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Barnsley on 24 November he gave false details and was given a fixed penalty notice.

Karney was released and it was only later that officers checked his fingerprints and realised he was wanted.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "We regret greatly that Joshua Karney was released from custody after he gave false details."

Well, as long as you're really sorry. Don't let it happen again, though...

Update: Karney was caught in Hove at about six this evening. So it's just the two murderers we have to worry about now...

Scumwatch

The ringleader of the group who committed this crime may have been as young as 14:

A terminally-ill woman in a wheelchair has been assaulted by a group of youths who hit her on the back of the head.

Police said the attack in Woolworths in Biggin Street, Dover, Kent on Saturday, may have been filmed on a mobile phone.

The youths were seen laughing and looking at a mobile phone after the attack on Beverley McFarlane, 41, who has lymphoma, a form of cancer.

A Woolworths spokeswoman said the firm is co-operating with police and all stores had CCTV and security guards.

Mrs McFarlane said she grabbed her bag before being thumped hard in the back.

She said the attack began when one youth banged a tin of chocolates she had on her knees.

She said: "I grabbed my bag, thinking that they might grab my bag, and then another boy came behind me, and thumped me in the back.

"It was that hard it made me cry."

Staff alerted a supervisor to the incident, who radioed for police backup.

The staff then intervened and asked the boys to leave, after which the incident was "in police hands", [a Woolworths spokeswoman] said.

Of course, the ideal course of action would have been for the staff, assisted by the other customers (who seem to have done nothing whatsoever while this was going on) to secure the boys, by force if necessary, and detain them until the police arrived. But I suppose that then it would have been fifty-fifty whether the police arrested Mrs McFarlane's attackers, or the people who (hypothetically) caught them.

On the plus side, the lowlife responsible for one of the crimes I wrote about back in February has been jailed indefinitely. Of course, had he not been granted early release from prison - despite breaking a fellow inmate's jaw while incarcerated - this crime would never have happened at all:

A crack addict who left a charity worker for dead had been freed early from prison weeks earlier after another violent attack.

Ebanezer Adesina was on licence when he ferociously attacked Roger Hare after the profoundly deaf grandfather asked him to move his legs so he could get off a train.

The 20-year-old was released early from a three-year jail term for robbing two men.

While in jail, he broke a fellow inmate's jaw and was sentenced to serve 15 months concurrently for the attack.

Adesina, who was unemployed, was on the same train as 61-year-old Mr Hare, who was returning home after an evening discussing charity events in London on February 20 this year.

As he stood up to leave the train at West Dulwich station in South London, Mr Hare politely asked Adesina to move his feet so he could pass by.

Adesina remained motionless and as Mr Hare brushed past him, he stood up, swore and started to punch his victim repeatedly.

Mr Hare was struck with such force that he landed head first on the platform, shattering his skull.

Witnesses described him hitting the ground "like a sack of potatoes".

Adesina then calmly stepped over his Mr Hare's unconscious body and walked out of the station, telling a passenger who shouted at him to stop: "What's the point? He's dead already."

Mr Hare spent a week in a coma on a life-support machine.

Yesterday Adesina, from Dagenham, East London, was sent to jail indefinitely at Southwark Crown Court for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

And a Scumwatch old boy has also found his way to chokey, albeit for only four months:

A thug who blocked the path of an ambulance carrying a dying pensioner to hospital was today jailed for four months.

Michael Boyd, 22, stood directly in front of the ambulance to prevent it making its journey to hospital.

Inside, a paramedic was treating Norman Bell, 84, who had collapsed from a massive heart attach as he played bowls at St Oswald Catholic Social Club in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, in July.

Mr Bell died the following day.

Magistrates in Wigan were told today that Boyd, a father-of-one from Belvedere Road, Newton-Le-Willows, put his hand on the windscreen of the ambulance then began to swear at the driver and shouted threats that he would kill him.

The driver set off but Boyd continued to shout threats then began to bang on the side of the ambulance.

I should point out that there's no evidence that Boyd's actions contributed to Mr Bell's death. Still, with a sentence of four months (which will mean rather less than that in practice), I have to say that Boyd has got off pretty lightly.

Racist thugs convicted

An update on the racially-motivated attempted murder mentioned en passant in this post - specifically, a verdict in the case:

Three Asian racists were convicted at the Old Bailey today of shattering a man's skull because he was white.

Sodrul Islam, 23, Delwar Hussain, 21, and Mamoon Hussain, 20, were found guilty of attempted murder for the attack on John Payne, 33.

Up to 30 Asians set upon the victim and his friends for drinking in a pub on the Clichy estate in Stepney, which the gang considered to be their turf.

They shouted insults including "white honkies" at the five people who dared to walk through.

Mr Payne was then felled with a machete and the gang repeatedly punched and kicked him as he lay helpless on the ground.

The gang continued as Mr Payne's sobbing girlfriend tried to shield him.

He suffered a severe fracture of his head and bone fragments penetrated his brain.

Surgeons at the Royal London Hospital battled to save him.

He continues to require constant medication and suffers severe epilepsy, nightmares and flashbacks.

The three defendants, from Stepney, will be sentenced in the New Year.

Still not a single word about the case on al-Beeb's website. Indeed, the Daily Mail appears to be the only news source of any description to report the conviction. Oddly enough, I find it difficult to imagine that we would be witnessing this almost total media blackout had the mob of murderous thugs been white, and their victim Pakistani. Oh well - c'est la vie...

Stupid Criminals of the Day

Are these the most stupid muggers in Britain?

Minutes after attacking a teenager on a commuter train, these young lads shamelessly posed for CCTV footage.

Then, astonishingly, they tried to cover up their faces with their scarves and jumpers once they realised what they'd done.

The three youths had just mugged a 15-year-old for his mobile phone and iPod after jumping on him on the train to Guildford, Surrey.

They punched him repeatedly in the face before pinning him down and stealing his possessions.

The victim fled the train at Effingham Junction after the attack, which took place between Leatherhead and Effingham Junction around 4pm on 13 September.

But the suspects remained on board and strutted in front of the train's security cameras, brazenly pulling faces and making themselves easily identifiable.

Charming, aren't they?

Wanted: Lynch Mob

A paranoid schizophrenic who punched a 96-year-old war veteran in the face, leaving him blind in one eye, walked free from court yesterday after a judge ruled that detaining him was not in the best interests of the public.

Stephen Gordon, 44, was captured on CCTV launching a savage, unprovoked attack on defenceless Shah Chaudhury after they bumped into each other on a crowded tram in south London.

Other afternoon passengers, including children, looked on in horror as Gordon called Mr Chaudhury a "b******" and lashed out at the great-grandfather with his clenched right fist.

In a statement to Croydon Crown Court Mr Chaudhury, a British citizen, said he had been standing in the aisle of the tram because nobody would give up their seat for him.

Which is bad enough in itself, although hardly surprising: London is, after all, the world centre for rudeness and discourtesy. On crowded tube trains I have actually seen healthy young people, who would be quite capable of standing for a few minutes, pushing the elderly out of the way in their selfish desperation to get a seat for themselves.

He was gripping a rail with both hands to steady himself when Gordon tried to squeeze by under his arms.

In the process Gordon’s hat fell off, triggering the attack.

“I had done nothing to provoke him,’’ said Mr Chaudhury. “The driver and the other passengers came to my aid and I was taken to hospital.”

At a trial earlier this year Gordon, of Academy Gardens, Croydon, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm.

During the trial Gordon claimed that Mr Chaudhury had punched him.

Causing GBH with intent carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The attack was vicious and unprovoked, the victim was about as defenceless as you can get, and has suffered severe adverse consequences as a result of the attack (as well as losing the sight in one eye, he has suffered a general deterioration in his health, and now resides in a care home) and Gordon appears to have been completely unrepentant. In these circumstances, what sentence do you think Gordon got?

He was sentenced yesterday to a three year supervision order which requires him to receive psychiatric treatment.

“At first blush it is not a difficult sentencing exercise, an immediate and significant prison sentence would well be justified,” Judge Kenneth Macrae told the court.

“That said it would do nothing to protect the public in the future and my real concern is the public. It seems to me that the best way of ensuring that he is not a risk, is in relying on various support from psychiatrists and probation officers.”

I would suggest that Gordon would be still less of a threat to the public, were he to reside behind the sturdy walls of one of Her Majesty's prisons, while receiving "support from psychiatrists". Judge Macrae also seems to have completely rejected any notion that Gordon should actually be punished for his behaviour, or that the sentence given should aim to deter anyone else from pursuing a similar course of conduct. Indeed, it would rather appear that Gordon has got off almost scot-free. What does that tell us about the extent to which the criminal has become favoured over the victim in the British criminal justice system?

Personally, I would rather like to see Gordon strung-up from a lamppost. And, I can't say that I'd be all that upset to see Judge Macrae swinging alongside him...

Coming soon to a neighbourhood near you?

A man who raped a 91-year-old woman and who police believe still poses a serious risk to the public, is to be released from prison within weeks.

Eamon Foley, from Castlederg, has served half of his 16-year sentence, and must be freed under the system of automatic 50% remission.

Mary-Anne McLaughlin died a month after the attack in January 1999.

While in jail, the 47-year-old has refused to take any sex offenders courses and an assessment panel termed him a high risk offender who presents a danger to any female - child or adult.

Police have been granted an interim order which means that when he is released he can only live at an approved address, can only use public transport and can have no access to children or vulnerable adults.

Of course, one has to wonder how successful this will prove in preventing him from committing rape, should he be so minded. After all, I imagine that if one is prepared to go out and rape people, the prospect that the act of rape might also be in breach of an interim order is perhaps not a great deterrent.

Apparently the sixteen-year sentence that Foley received was the maximum available under Northern Irish law. Steps are now being taken to give judges the option of life sentences in cases like this, and to remove the automatic 50% remission, whereby criminals in Northern Ireland automatically become eligible for parole after serving half their nominal sentence (and which means that Foley's sentences was, in practice, eight years, not sixteen). Such steps are to be welcomed - after all, if someone has committed a crime as heinous as that committed by Foley, and continues to pose a threat to public safety, then the only sensible options are life imprisonment and execution. However, it appears that they will come too late to prevent the release of this unrepentant and dangerous pervert.

Today's Scum

A retired lecturer who moved to the seaside in search of "the good life" was kicked to death by a thug who started pestering her in the street.

Susan Grundy, 56, was walking home after an evening with friends when Stephen Browning approached her for a cigarette.

When she refused, Browning, a convicted thug who had just been bailed by police after a drunken outburst, unleashed the most sickening attack.

He punched, kicked and stamped on Mrs Grundy more than 20 times, Bradford Crown Court heard.

High on a cocktail of drink and drugs, he then stripped her naked, sexually assaulted her and left her dying on the ground.

Then he went to a nearby nightclub and bought a round of drinks with £50 he had stolen from her purse.

Browning, 31, who admitted murder, was jailed for life and ordered to serve at least 25 years.

So, he'll be 56 when he gets out - the same age Mrs Grundy was when he killed her. Personally, I think that Stephen Browning is an excellent argument for the death penalty. I think that there can be no doubt that such a vile creature deserves nothing less than an appointment with Jack Ketch.

And there's more:

Two weeks earlier, he had been released from a four month jail term for an assault on his girlfriend in November 2006.

After his release on January 9, he went to his sister's home and got drunk, before being arrested for breaching the peace and obstructing a police officer.

He was still on bail at the time of the murder. He was also separated from his wife, whom he had attacked in 2002.

So, if this man, with his clear predilection for violence, particularly, it seems, against women, had not been granted bail, then Mrs Grundy would still be alive today. Another great triumph for British justice!

Unspeakable Scum

Sick yobs degraded a dying disabled woman as she lay collapsed on the floor outside her home - and filmed the whole attack on a mobile phone.

During an horrific ordeal, Christine Lakinski, 50, was drenched with a bucket of water and had shaving foam sprayed all over her face and body.

And as a final insult, her brother Mark Lakinski revealed the men had urinated on his sister before she was discovered by passers-by.

What can motivate any ostensible human being to act in such an obscene way is completely beyond me. Sadly, however, this case is not without precedent, although I think that it does represent a new low point.

Britain Welcomes Multicultural Rapists!

Exhibit One (via Laban Tall):

A Pakistani businessman yesterday escaped prison and deportation after being found guilty of a string of sex offences.

Naeem Waqas Rehmat was sentenced to three years' probation after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two women and a 14-year-old girl.

The 24-year-old restaurant manager appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court faced with possible deportation under the Immigration Act.

Rehmat, of 137 Dundee Road, Forfar, assaulted the women and the teenager at various addresses in Forfar in separate incidents over two years.

He assaulted one woman on various occasions between February 8 and May 8, 2005. And on a separate occasion he assaulted a second woman on one occasion between October 1 and October 31, 2005.

He was also found guilty of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards a 14-year-old girl, on March 28.

Advocate Tim Niven-Smith said Rehmat entered the UK in February 2005.

As a commenter at Laban Tall's blog points out, this means that he must have started his run of perversion almost as soon as he stepped off the plane.

Exhibit Two:

A Polish migrant subjected a British woman to a violent rape only one week after he arrived in Britain, a court heard.

Michal Piotr Kwidzinski, 22, seized a 38-year-old barmaid as she walked home from work in the early hours.

The burly 6ft 5in Pole dragged his petite 5ft 2in victim into a builder's van where he raped her three times whilst holding her down by the neck and beating her head on the floor.

Sentencing him to nine years in prison, of which he will serve half, Judge John Neligan said it was "pointless" for him to recommend deportation after he has served his sentence because of "the current state of the law".

So, we appear stuck with both of these lowlife. At least Kwidzinski should be out of action for the next four years or so. But Rehmat, a man who attacked two women and an underage girl in the space of a few months, and whose entire life in the UK has centred around his perverted criminality, is still walking the streets as freely as you or I. I think that if I were a woman living in the environs of Forfar, I'd want to take self-defence classes, and possibly get my hands on a knife as well.

However, the failure to give Rehmat a lengthy custodial sentence is not the only thing wrong with the decisions of the judges in these cases. The second point is that both Rehmat and Kwidzinski are being allowed to remain in this country, when they should be deported. When they entered into Britain, they entered on sufferance, on condition that they abide by the law of the land. Having failed, and failed spectacularly, to do that, they have forfeited any right they may have had to remain here, and should be sent back the moment their sentences come to an end. Sadly, however, it seems that we now have a completely open door immigration policy, in which we cannot even deport murderers, let alone rapists and child abusers, and in which the detritus of every society on Earth are welcome to come to Britain, secure in the knowledge that they're coming to a country that is a very soft touch, not just on immigration, but on crime as well.

In related news, I read that the number of Britons emigrating to Australia has tripled in recent years. You can't blame them, can you?

Getting their priorities straight

We can't deport him, because that would breach his "human rights". Now it transpires that we, the British taxpayer, will also have to pay millions of pounds to help keep Learco Chindamo, the immigrant murderer of Philip Lawrence, safe from those who feel that twelve years' imprisonment is an insufficient sentence for a vile killer, and who may seek to exact the justice that the state shied away from.

Among the measures likely to be taken to protect this worthless piece of rat excrement, when he is released from prison, will be the provision of a new identity, a ban on the media revealing any details of his new life, and the provision of 24 hour police protection, with a panic button being installed in his home so that, day or night, come rain or shine, Plod can hasten to the defence of this poor defenceless murderer whenever he feels threatened.

Leaving aside the vast cost to the taxpayer of all these measures, and the fact that the only occasion on which vermin like Chindamo leave prison at all should be when they're taken to the gallows, it is this last point which particularly annoys me. After all, only a few days ago we had the news that a man whose son had been beaten unconscious by Chindamo-like thugs was told to write to his MP, and stop bothering the police with such trivial matters as GBH against a law-abiding citizen. However, it seems that because he has killed someone, Chindamo is to be rewarded with a level of police protection that those of us who have inexplicably neglected to stab anyone through the heart can only dream of. I guess that in modern Britain, crime really does pay.

Isn't modern Britain great?

Another day, another breathtakingly vile act of senseless violence from lowlife thugs:

A 23-year-old man with learning difficulties has died in hospital after being attacked by a teenage gang on a housing estate.

Doctors had feared Brent Martin might not survive the weekend after suffering a catalogue of injuries in the unprovoked late night attack.

Detectives hunting the youths have now urged parents "to think about what their children were doing" on the night when he was set upon by a gang of at least five youths.

The attack happened on the Town End Farm estate, in Sunderland, around 10pm on Thursday night.

Mr Martin, a local man, died this morning in Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Northumbria Police described the incident as a "prolonged, savage attack" which is believed to have been carried out over a period of time.

His attackers are believed to be between 16 and 17 and at least two were wearing hooded tops pulled up around their heads.

They only needed a hug...

Meanwhile, The Guardian has an interview with a self-proclaimed "Nogzy soldier" - a member of a criminal gang based in the Norris Green area of Liverpool, close to where eleven year-old Rhys Jones was shot dead on Wednesday:

We are good us, we never do robbing. The Crocky [a gang based in the Croxteth area of the city - FR] does robbing. We do grafting. Mostly cars, I suppose I rob about two cars a month and sell them on.

I've been done for possession of crack cocaine - I was selling it, not doing it - and threats to kill. I've just got out a couple of months ago, I got two years for assault on a police officer and criminal damage for smashing a police van up. I was in the Farms [Lancaster Farm young offenders institution in Lancashire] and [HMP] Altcourse.

I've had charges since I was 10 or 11, all different assaults and that. My mum and dad were not too happy.

No, I would think not.

I wonder whether there is some remote and uninhabited island to which all these bloodthirsty scum can be shipped off en masse, armed with as many guns and knives as they can carry, and left to fight to the death, a la Battle Royale? After all, would it really matter if they all killed each other off? I can't imagine that I would shed many tears were such a scenario to eventuate. Neither, I imagine, would many of those who live in areas infested with these vermin.

Of course, the Battle Royale option will most likely not be put into practice any time soon. Therefore, more prosaic methods will need to be used to stop the gangs. Now, it seems to me that the only thing these gangs will actually respond to is force; specifically, force greater than that which they are capable of exercising. As such, I believe that, in the worst sink estates, where the police have completely failed to tackle the gangs, the army should be sent in to maintain order. Perhaps they might have more success in keeping these scum under control than the police have enjoyed.

Hang 'em high

A 57-year-old man who was attacked after tackling teenage vandals has died in hospital.

The man was assaulted by up to eight youths at 10.45pm on Friday on Station Road North in Warrington, Cheshire.

He was taken to Warrington General Hospital but died, police said.

The victim is understood to have approached youths causing criminal damage in the area but was then attacked.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said eight male youths, aged between 15 and 19, were arrested and were helping with inquiries.

I wonder when the area in question had last seen a police patrol? Perhaps if there were more police actually walking the streets on a regular basis then, in the first place, vandalism of the kind these scum were perpetrating would be less frequent, and, furthermore, people like the victim in this case would be less at risk if they did intervene to stop such a crime being committed.

As a result of the essential abdication by the police of their duty to maintain law and order, we are, as Gareth at BNP and Me wrote after he had a run-in with a couple of graffiti "artists" a few months back, left with a choice between putting ourselves at risk of serious, potentially fatal, injury, and allowing young thugs to vandalise property and intimidate communities without any repercussions. Perhaps if the law-abiding citizenry were allowed to carry guns the situation might be rather better...

As for the thugs who did this: words are inadequate to express the loathing I feel towards them. Only the lowest kind of scum would actually kill someone because he asked them to stop doing something that was both illegal and wrong. As far as I am concerned, they are a good advertisement for the death penalty.

Update: More details of the crime are now available from the Daily Mail (thanks to a commenter for the link). The victim's name was Gary Newlove, and he was reportedly attacked after challenging teenagers who were throwing stones at a mechanical digger parked in his driveway. Apparently, there was a pre-existing problem with young thugs in the area drinking, taking drugs, vandalising property, and intimidating residents, and Mr Newlove had been attempting to set up a neighbourhood watch scheme in an effort to challenge this pattern of behaviour.

Just lock him up!

Can I be the only one who is absolutely fed up with watching the ongoing antics of the contemptible Pete Doherty? Over the past couple of years, it seems that barely a month has gone by without Doherty being arrested for something or other, and he has been in and out of court more times than some lawyers. Aside from amassing numerous convictions for drug offences, he has also been fined £750 for assaulting a BBC reporter, and has pleaded guilty to driving without either insurance or a licence. Now, after admitting to two further driving offences, as well as possession of cannabis, heroin, crack cocaine, and ketamine (how many habits does the guy have?) he has been warned that he may face prison, unless he attends a drug rehabilitation course.

Personally, I think that there should be no "may" about it. Doherty has shown himself to have a complete disregard for the law, time and time again. Indeed, on one occasion he distinguished himself by being sentenced for drug possession in the morning, and arrested for drug possession in the early afternoon of the same day. Really, the only way of dealing with people like this is to lock them up. And, preferably, to throw away the key...

Scumwatch Update

In Ashton-in-Makerfield, Greater Manchester:

A pensioner died from a heart attack after mindless yobs blocked in and attacked the ambulance called to help him.

Paramedics rushed to help the 75-year-old man, who has not been named, after he collapsed playing bowls with friends at a social club.

But as they loaded the man into the ambulance, three youths blocked the car park exit with their motorbikes, stopping it from leaving for hospital.

And the terrified ambulance crew were briefly chased away from the scene as the gang yelled abuse at them and pelted the vehicle with stones.

Police have launched an investigation after it emerged that the man died in hospital after the ambulance was delayed for at least five minutes.

Five minutes may not seem a particularly long time. But, I would imagine that in a case such as this, every second is vital. We cannot be sure whether this man would have lived or died had the ambulance not been delayed, but his chances of survival would surely have been higher.

And, in any event, what manner of worthless creatures attack paramedics as they respond to a 999 call? I would imagine that even most of the low-life and thugs that I occasionally have cause to write about would shy away from doing something like that. The subhuman vermin in this story really are particularly depraved.

I also wonder, since children do not generally go straight from being good kids to attacking ambulances, what the antecedents of these low-lifes are? I would imagine that there must be at least something of a pattern of indiscipline at school and in the community, even if they do not actually have criminal records. One has to say, that if such filth were brought up better, were taught to behave in school, and were dealt with harshly by the police and the local community when they did show signs of coming off the rails, then they probably wouldn't have ended up the way they have. But, of course, I doubt that anyone has ever tried to teach them respect, nor given them a clip round the ear. They are the bastard children (in any sense you like) of a society which on the one hand pampers young thugs, and on the other hand punishes anyone who dares to stand up to them.

I would hope that after this, they will be dealt with very severely. But, knowing our "justice" system, I hope to see this, but do not expect to.

Second Class Citizens

In the Daily Mail, I read that Keith Best, head of the Immigration Advisory Service (and former Tory MP), considers that immigrants are better citizens than the native-born British. To be exact, he said:

These people have actively sought British citizenship because they want to make a contribution to the UK.

Now, that's not really true, is it? I doubt very much that people in the third world, or indeed, in Japan, France, America, or anywhere else in the first world that sends us immigrants, wake up in the morning and think, "well, what I really need to do today is go and make Britain a better place". Not least because the third world, from where most of our immigrants are drawn, has more than enough problems of its own for would-be philanthropists to be getting on with. Dreamy-eyed liberal gap-year students may want to go to Africa to help the benighted natives; I don't think the reverse is true.

Rather, they are of course here for - wait for it - the money! This country has it, their countries don't, and they can make a lot more of it here, doing even the most menial task, than they could in comparatively high status jobs back home. British citizenship simply serves to cement immigrants in the UK, so that they can keep on getting the money without any risk of deportation.

I am not sure how many people born in this country have the same commitment.

Does he have any evidence to back up his claim that we don't give a damn? Or is he just making unsubstantiated allegations?

The tests for citizenship are greater than they have ever been.

According to a woman I spoke to who had actually taken the test, one of the more challenging questions was 'Where is York?'.

We are now turning immigrants into better citizens than people born with a British passport.

Again, does he have any evidence to back up this assertion? Leaving aside Muslim fundamentalists, and other assorted nutters, who admittedly constitute an extreme case, what about, say, Somali immigrants? Only 12% of those actually have a job at all, which leaves 88%, more or less, who are scrounging off the native taxpayer. Are they "better citizens" than those who pay for their food, clothing, housing, their children's education? Or what about the disproportionate number of criminals who are immigrants or of immigrant stock? Is it a mark of being a good citizen that one has a criminal record?

Well, Mr Best may very well think it is. Because according to Wikipedia, which, while not perfect, is generally pretty accurate, Mr Best is himself the proud holder of a criminal record, obtained in 1987 on account of his involvement in share-cheating. Although his four month prison sentence was quashed after he had spent five days behind bars, there is nothing to indicate that the conviction itself was ever overturned. To my mind, not only does this criminality cast doubt on Best's own reliability, but it puts the judgement of those at the Immigration Advisory Service who were responsible for appointing him into question. Not that this should astound anyone, of course.

Besides Keith Best's own dubious antecedents, there is the fact that the IAS is publicly-funded. In addition to the fact that I don't really think public money should go to pay the salary of a convicted fraudster, I would also agree with Sir Andrew Green of Migration Watch and Matthew Elliott of the TaxPayers' Alliance, who ask why the British taxpayer should pay money to an organisation whose head proceeds to insult them in this manner. Well, I suppose there is at least precedent for this. Personally, though, I can't see why the government gives money to the IAS at all, regardless of who leads it, or what they say.

Today's Scum...

...is 17 year old Kyle Ivison, from Clitheroe, Lancashire.

The Daily Mail list some of the incidents which have earned him the prestigious award of Scum of the Day:

For "fun", the lout smashed up four benches in a cemetery in the town in January 2006, two of which had been installed by grieving relatives.

Such was the extent of his offending he was even banned from his local Tesco.

In May he was convicted of a catalogue of offences.

They included:

• Being found drunk with a 15-year-old girl who had to be rushed to hospital by ambulance

• Causing £1,400 worth of damage to a church's windows

• Systematically targeting parked cars, smashing off wing mirrors, jumping on the vehicles, kicking them and ramming one with a shopping trolley

• Torching a neighbour's shed.

The lout, who lives in Riverside, Clitheroe, filmed himself smashing up 21 cars during a one night orgy of vandalism.

And in the last month alone, busy bobbies logged a further seven incidents involving the yob, who loved to brag about his crimes, including an occasion when he admitted taking drugs.

Accrington Magistrates heard that on 29 June the teenager's own father reported him to the police for smashing up the family home.

PC Geoff Woodcock, of Lancashire Police, said Ivison committed 38 per cent of the town's crimes during just one week.

Even for a small town with a population of only 22,000, that's not bad going. Ivison is known to have committed 48 crimes so far this year, and looks set to pass the personal best of 56 offences per year, which he achieved in 2006.

And how did Accrington magistrates deal with this increasingly criminal low-life? They slapped an ASBO on him. That'll show him!

Or perhaps it won't. Because I really doubt that thugs of this nature are the kind of people who will be affected one way or the other by an ASBO. As I see it, ASBOs are for lower-level scum; for thirteen and fourteen year olds who are behaving badly, but are only on the borderline of criminality. An ASBO might - might - have an effect on them.
Ivison, by contrast, is a serious and habitual criminal. This is an entirely unsuitable case for a mere ASBO, no matter how restrictive: if he's prepared to break the law with the regularity that he does (and he's currently averaging almost two known offences each week) then I doubt that fear of adding the additional offence of breach of ASBO to his record will stop him. What this boy needs is prison, and perhaps a good long spell at boot camp (if we had them, which we sadly don't).

Actually, I find it unlikely that Ivison will ever be made into a productive member of society. I have very little doubt but that he will be doing this kind of thing for the rest of his life. ASBOs won't stop it, and even the threat of prison won't deter him. But if he were locked up then, at least for the period during which he was behind bars, the people of Clitheroe would be spared his loathsome presence.
