I can't help thinking that most folk would be better off stocking up with water and staying put at home. Obviously not on for the infirm, new-born, or bungalow dwellers. But I wouldn't want to be an evacuee if there was any way of staying put safely. Even with the gas and electricity turned off, home is still home. You can take bottled water and some tinned food upstairs, so long as there is an escape route from the upper floors. Maybe the most important thing is to move our cars to higher ground. Not to save the cars, but to stop them bobbing around in the flood water and breaching their fuel tanks. Fire on the water we don't need. But it can be much more dangerous to try to walk across flooded territory when you can't see potentially dislodged manhole covers. Monty
I am a reactionary. I advocate capital punishment, EU withdrawal, tax cuts, monarchism, tradition, and Christianity. I am intransigently opposed to Islam, the spread of post-modernist nihilism, socialism, and multiculturalism. I live in Fulham, SW London.

Sandwich board time. "Repent! Repent! The end is at hand!"
