Good news!

The government has decided to let the VC-winning ex-Gurkha Tul Bahadur Pun into Britain after all. According to Liam Byrne, the minister responsible for immigration, Mr Pun's case is "exceptional".

I quite agree with Byrne: Mr Pun is a very rare example of someone being let into this country, who actually deserves to be allowed in. This sets him well apart from almost all of the other half a million or so immigrants who the government lets in every year (and lets in with a lot less fuss than they made over Mr Pun's application).
